Holcim Romania has invested over €350,000 in the expansion of Progresu in the last six months. The laboratory was built in 2005 and is the second launched by Holcim after a similar establishment in Turda. The company has invested over €600,000 in the modernisation of the two laboratories in the past two years.

Holcim has invested more than €700m on the Romanian market so far. In 2013, Holcim Romania plans to invest another €18m in the modernisation of its production capacities.

The company has three cement plants in Romania, one in each Turda, Campulung and Alesd, a chain of 18 ready-mix concrete plants, two special binders and five aggregate plants. Its main competitors on the Romanian market are Carpatcement (part of the German concern Heidelbergcement) and a subsidiary of the French Lafarge group.
